Callie is a good Halloween ghost storybook. If you are looking for ghosts and some secrets, this book by Bill Thompson is a good one. It is the first one in the series of “The Bayou Hauntings.” It all starts once a granddaughter comes for the reading of a will? This book is good, but it rates it 4.5 stars or Moons as it is not that ghostly.

What did Callie end up getting from her grandfather? What does her Uncle Willard want that he keeps trying to keep Callie leaving? Do we meet a little girl that comes and goes at her own will? Who could that be?

I feel this story is slow-moving and not all that ghostly until a little girl shows up, and it is stormy, making it more horror. It is mild in horror when the girl comes and goes. Callie seems confused with the riddles. I was not all scared of this ghost with the puzzles. It seems to be my mystery and secret, revealing more towards the end other than through most of the book.

Callie’s friend Mark seems more convincing and seems to have a plan, but we do not know until the little girl and Mark start making mistakes. Callie seems to catch on. Are Willard and Mark working together to get rid of Callie?

Book Review: The Proctor Hall Horror by Bill Thompson

Book Title: The Proctor Hall Horror
Author: Bill Thompson
Publisher: Ascendente Books
Publisher Date: October 1, 2020 (248 Pages, Paperback)
Genres: Paranormal, Ghosts, Mystery, Murder, Kidnapping, Horror
Series: The Bayou Hauntings #7

Set along the beautiful Bayou Lafourche near Thibodaux, Louisiana, it’s a more traditional ghost story than some of the others from this author. Back in 1963, a fourteen-year-old boy who’s never spoken a word is found sitting quietly on a stairway in his house. In a nearby sitting room, his mother, father and younger sister sit next to each other on a couch.

At least most of their bodies are on the couch. Their heads are neatly arranged on the mantel. The boy – the only living person at Proctor Hall — is deemed unable to stand trial and spends decades locked away. When he’s released at last, he comes back to live at in the old house.

For a class assignment, a university professor sends a team to the old plantation with a goal to learn about the now-abandoned house and its mysterious past. As the students uncover secrets, the school project becomes a tragedy beyond imagination. Landry and the crew are called in to investigate. As they learn the truth, the dark things that lurk inside Proctor Hall may claim even more victims.

Are you looking for a good Halloween horror book to read? The Proctor Hall Horror put you there in an action-packed run. This one got it all from ghosts to paranormal activities. It had me thrilled that I could not put it down.

Did Noah slay his whole family or did someone else? You will be guessing and trying to figure it all out until the last page. This book does have quite a horror to it. I do not read many Horror genre books. This one has me wanting more from this author and this series.

I am into paranormal shows and ghosts. This one does have quite a few deaths with a bit of chilling to it. Not a lot that it could be creepy. Though what happens in Proctor Hall seems quite scary terrifying, though I am not scared much. This one had me more.

This has it all, murder, mystery, ghosts, and hauntings. There is even a bit more. What will happen to Noah and others? What secrets does Proctor Hall hold? Good for those that are looking for a Halloween book for themselves. This book is set with it all for those that are looking for ghosts, hauntings, mystery and so much more.

Disclaimer: The author asked me if I would be interested in the second book. I was once I read the first one. I got a free copy of the book. This is my honesty review
Description: “I became paralyzed with fear. Tears started to run down my cheeks as I sat motionless on the bed facing the locked door.”

Patty had slowly opened up to Bob. She thinks she might be falling in love with him. Even so, he has gone back to New York, and she has not heard from him in two weeks. It is another loss for her. First, her mother died when she was young, and then her husband, Matt, was killed in Afghanistan. She has lost all that were close to her. All but her dad and he is her rock. He is the one that gives her strength.

In, The Christmas Gate 2, Patty’s life becomes like a roller coaster, with the ups and the downs. She loses, and then wins, only to lose again. Then Patty is rocked with an emotional bombshell. She tries to gather herself together, then only another heartbreak again.

She resigns herself to wait at the old farm house until Bob returns to her. She unleashes what Bob had uncovered during his earlier stay, and she too is taken on a journey that will bring to the surface the things she has buried deep inside her, things that she has forgotten, things she refuses to confront, and things that could eventually set her free. Patty and Bob’s story continues in, The Christmas Gate 2.

The Christmas Gate 2 opens up with Bob wanting to talk to his publisher. Once he does he makes deal that get him the lovely farmhouse where he could write his stories. Well things get a little more interesting once he moves in to his new farmhouse.

Once things get close to Christmas and plans are made for him and Patty. Patty get a knock at the door. Once does she find out her husband is alive and in the army hospital. What will happen with Patty and Bob?

Bob meets an woman and tell her his story. She get him advice and once she is gone for a bit he does do something inside the book she has. She doe not know until she opens it. He never mentions it either.

Bob make a decision to help Patty out by making it easy for her. Patty does not know this when he leaves after seeing her and getting the message from her friend Lucy. It seem that Patty has to do her own journey as to go on.

She finds a poem or letter addressed to her after Jim and everyone thinks Bob has pass away. Jim does his deal that the farmhouse is to go to Patty if something happened to Bob.

She reads something that Bob wrote at the end of the journal. “The Christmas Gate is not Fiction” and this get her attention and she goes to find the box and she does and she opens it. She think will get 7 visions and what will happen. The journey begins. You will not believe it but her candles and messages are different for her but her journey is bit different then Bobs. Will she find Bob? Will she be able to bring him home?

I really like the theme and plot of the candles. It really well written. The messages were different for each person on their own journey. You will not know until the end who the light form might be. It a fast read and enjoyable as well.

Review: The Ghost of Mavis

Book Title: The Ghost of Mavis
Author: Mary Lynn Plaisance
Genres: Fiction, Ghosts, Romance, Paranormal Romance,
Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing
Publish Date: 2017-04-11 (166 Pages, Paperback)
Disclaimer: I received this book from the author for an honest review. I found it on AuthorDen and my opinion of the book is not influenced by the author or publisher. My thoughts are my own
Description: Mavis dies at the age of 88. She’s waiting at the Pearly Gates again, but this time she’s in a wedding dress. She doesn't know why she's young. "Am I a ghost, again?" she asked her angel, and Danson replied to her, "Yes, Mavis, you’re a ghost again, until you find the person you were destined to marry after Charlie died. You missed your lick. You didn’t fulfill your destiny as Mavis in this life. You need to go back as a ghost until you find James Windsor. Your earth angel Anna will help you. There’s a little girl who is waiting for you here in Heaven. Follow Mavis on her journey to find her second soul mate.

The Ghost of Mavis had me intuited by wanting to know what it was about. Was it a mother that died with a young girl. There a mystery to it that you are pondering from the minute you start reading.

Mavis shows up at the Pearly gates in a wedding dress. Why and what reason. Mary Lynn Plaisance write the story well. This is her first book, that I have read. She leaves you guessing and pondering about a little girl. Who is this little girl and what is she waiting for? All we know at the beginning Mavis as died and is at the age of 88. What her angels tell her is, that she miss her lick and was to marry again.

Mavis is confused but are we as well? She also wonders why she wears a wedding dress. She wants to go back to earth to be born into a rich family. When she goes to ask, her angels she's going back to earth on a mission. To do that she will go back as a ghost and her angel Anna will help her until she finds this James Windsor.

You start to wonder what life is after death. Where do we go? Is it a belief that we reincarnate back to our family or do we stay in haven. That you will have to decide. Mary does a splendid job with this and talking about the afterlife. I would suggest if you enjoy paranormal fan or even a little mystery fan this is a good book to read. I recommend it to read.

The book is well written and few mistakes. I believe a may have caught one mistake in the entire book. It was probably one that got the word misplaced not even spell wrong when editing, it wonderful. I hope to read more by Mary Lynn Plaisance.
