Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag: 2020 Edition

The Mid Year Book Freakout Tag
I have been wanting to do this for some time. With this being my first and a little late.. Sorry I am doing it in July or late July. I been wanting to do this so, now better then never or waiting until next year. So I am stealing the Questions from Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

Best book you’ve read so far in 2020
I am going to choose two books. They are favorites for to different reasons but that okay with me I will be happy. One is my childhood favorite series growing up. The first one is The Berenstain Bears' Nature Rescue by Mike Berenstain. The other one was The Nutcracker Conspiracy by Lauren Carr, I just love mystery and she delivers.

Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020
The Missing Planets by Hawk MacKinney is the second book in The Cairns of Sainctuarie series. It was great.
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
There are to many to list. I have stack to end. Here are a just a few to say the least.

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Death In The Cloud by EJ Simon, is my most anticipated release. It was supposed to have released in July but because of Covid 19.. It now sometime in October.. This other three books are Death Never Sleeps, Death Logs In, Death Logs Out are the best thrillers I have read and reviewed. I Can't wait for Death in the Cloud.
Biggest disappointment
A Reason for Living by Julian Jingles was an okay book. If you want to read about Jamica history, this book is for you. The tile is not all that impressive. Let me at mention that I am not all the into this book. It has way to much of one thing that is not healthy. It a disappointment kinda read for me.

Biggest surprise
GenTech: An American Story of Technology, Change and Who We Really Are by Dr. Rick Chomey was really big surprise to me. I really enjoyed this one. So much so I was talking about it to my mom almost every time I was with her or found her in the house once i finished a chapter. I am not this way with Nonfiction books. This one wanting to read more. I am into technology but is also talks about Generations.

Favorite new author (debut or new to you)
I am choosing two authors for this one. One towards Middle Grade (MG) and the other is for a Young Adult (YA). Alba Arango has become a favorite by creating a series that I just want more of. Her series is the Decoders. I picked one book up to read and then I wanted the whole series. Alba Arango books are The Lady Ghost, The Miner's Gold, The Mysterious Music Box, The Sleepwalking Vampire.

Andrew Peterson became a favorite of mine. His book North or Be Eaten became a favorite of mine. I wish I had the first book as well. But I was only to receive one book and it was the book mention above. There are two more books that go with this one and I hope to see it go on sale or work my way to get them and his first one as well. I did not expect to enjoy the book that much as it Fantasy and I don't read much of it.

Book that made you cry
I do not recall any that made me cry. None that were emotional heavy in where I was in tears. And with the way things are at the moment. Real Life is stressful  right now to make me cry.

Book that made you happy
Well 5 books made me smile.  It hard choosing just one. So I put 4 books to a number generator. I gave 4 of the five books a number and let it generate a number. It choose the number 2. I Hate, Hate, Hate This Time of Day!: A Cute Bedtime Story by Alyssa Miracle is the winner.
Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Look at these lovely books! The Gingerbread Train, The Edge of Everwhen, The Treasure Tree, Think Big, Mindfulness at the Park. All are review copies.
What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
All of them! I do not need the stress of that time. I will read them when too. Only one has to read by October. I have my list of books I want to read in what order.. I am not being pressured into when they are done. We been stressed out enough in our real life..

That the wrap up on the first half of 2020! I hope that I can pull myself out and read a bit more in the second half, so I have a few reviews to post in the second half.

How was your first half of 2020? I love to know.. Tell me in the comments.

In Memory Of - My Precious Loving Baby Boy Pumpkin

Patches and Pumpkin
May 2006
Me holding Patches
and Pumpkin
Pumpkin was my baby boy. Though he was a cat. I loved him and his brother Patches. I got them both together from a friend. I thank that friend for allowing me to take them both. We could not let one stay and the other not. So we keep them both.

Oh how I am glad we did. This brother and Pumpkin were a team and fun to watch. As kittens one was independent and the other was gentle and loved to be cuddled. Can you guess which was which. We named them Patches and the other Pumpkin. There names came from one being Orange and white and the other black and white with Patches. So, That is how they become to named. They came to me in May of 2006.

To Pumpkin, who this is to be about. I have memories of him. He was so sweet and loving. He sleep with me at night and he did up until month before he passed away. He was still wanted me to pet him and we wanted more when I went and found and pet him.

One other thing about Pumpkin is that he meow at me when he was hungry or when he was ready to go up to bed. It was funny but loving. He come find me and want me to go to bed and meow until either I took him up to bed or told him head on up and I be up.

Another memory I have of him is wanting to be petted while I was reading a book. Even if I was in bed and reading he swat at me playfully to pet him. He did this to me every night at least except for when he was hurting and the last month of before he passed away.

I know my pumpkin also loved to play with birds. If a bird end up in the house or in the basement of the house, the bird was alive and he still be playing with it. He was really gentle but playful and funny to watch. He was even like this after losing a leg and before say a month before he passed.

Me Holding Pumpkin
December 2017
He was loving and so sweet and will be missed. Those are the memories I will hold and remember and still do. I miss my baby boy Pumpkin and will love him. I understand why he was to go and wanted him not to suffer so when he passed on August 5, 2018. It was relief for me. I will miss him and love and still and will always will.

He was 12 years and few months old. Rest in Peace my baby boy. He passed away around 3:30 am on August 5, 2018. His brother Patches is still around. Check out my In Memory of Pumpkin or This one

Tell Me Something Tuesday: #1 - Do you feel pressured to get your reviews posted in a timely manner?

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post hosted on Rainy Day Ramblings where we discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog. - Thanks to Angela for telling me about Tell Me Something and Book Tag. If you want to see some of her discussion posts click on Angela Discussion Posts.

Do you feel pressured to get your reviews posted in a timely manner?

Sometime I do. My reviews go up as soon as I can get them posted. Book that I review that are book tour books, I try and read before they are due to be posted. I try and have the review up and seceduled for that day. That way if I do have something to do that day it up and ready.

Life can get in the way. I try and have some post scheduled and reviews ready and written. But sometimes life get busy and review have to wait. Some reviews I write as soon as I am done or at least that week unless it a few busy days like this past week with Good Friday and Easter and me having an appt. that a day or two before that I was just getting some time to relax and then I would get to posting my reviews.

To the question, yes sometimes other times not so much.

Tell me do you sometimes feel pressured to get your reviews posted in a timely manner?

2018 Discussion Challenge - How to Start a Discussion on a Blog or Book Blog

Well this my first time ever doing a Discussion Post on my blog. Though I have tryed to get my follower to engage in my blog post. It did not do well any thing. Maybe I was doing it wrong or something wrong when I did. I gave up.

I love comments and commenting back. Only when I see them. I know I am not commenting a lot but then I do and I barely get any comments unless it was blog hop Post or in some liky? I will try and start with signing up for the 2018 Discussion Challenge.

To help me, I’m once again joining in with Nicole at Feed Your Fiction Addiction and Shannon at It Start’s at Midnight for their 2018 Book Blog Discussion Challenge. Here’s how it works…

The 2018 Book Blog Discussion Challenge runs from January 1st until December 31st, 2018 and you can sign up until the very last minute if you are interested.

There has already been a kick-off post so I’m behind signing up, but that’s nothing unusual for me. It also means I’m behind on having to come up with a post (any ideas?).

The challenge is to help get us discussing books and book blogging, so you can talk about whatever you want as long as it’s relevant to book blogging.

Discussions can be book related or book blogging related (or generally blogging related—no discussions about things that are completely off-topic like travel or fashion, etc). Discussions can also be about you personally if it’s a get-to-know-you type post.

There are a number of different levels depending on how much you feel you can accomplish:

1-10 – Discussion Dabbler
11-20 – Creative Conversationalist
21-30 – Chatty Kathy
31-40 – Terrifically Talkative
41+ – Gift of the Gab

I will try and aim for 1- 10 - Discussion Dabbler. I can not promise 10 but I hope to get a few discussion post done this year. I can not say how many I will do either. I will try. I hope to see some bloggers following me and commenting and talking and comment more on the blog. I do get some comments from authors but it like to see some of my blog followers and new ones to come and comment and I try and comment back on here and on their blog.

How did you start a discussion on your blog or book blog? I see this is a bit hard to do. I am thankful to see what you did to start one or were you able to do so easy. I know it hard for me and this my first one but to really do a post.
