Book Review: Robbie Robin

Book Title:
Robbie Robin
Author: Theresa Perna
Publisher: Mascot Kids
Publisher Date: November 2, 2021 (38 Pages, Hardcover)
Genres: Children, Fiction, Birds, Nature, Spring, Animals
Robbie Robin is the true story of three children who find a baby bird fallen from its nest and their journey to save its life. As the children learn how to nurture and protect the young bird, they must also learn how to say goodbye as Robbie grows and leaves the home the children have made for him. Both an emotional tale and a chronicle of scientific discovery, Robbie Robin reminds us that happiness and grief are shared, universal experiences that bind us all together, and that the connections formed in adolescence are sometimes the ones we remember the most.
Declaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Foreword Publishing  and Mascot Kids and was under no obligation to write a positive or negative review of this book. It my honest review.

Robbie Robin teaches children and others about birds. A little about taking care of young birds. Your child or children will learn the life lessons that birds or some animals imply, letting go and living where they happened to exist.
This book follows that journey. However, most of the children in the book did not do much to care for the bird. It mainly was their mother. All family members learn what it is like to raise a baby bird. I know that a true story inspires this.

This book is really for children that can read. The print is a bit small for children. I would think this book means more geared more advanced readers. Otherwise, the book signifies achieved well. The pictures are well-drawn. I did enjoy the images. Images were great to look at, and they could somewhat tell the story.

What will the family do when it is time for Robbie to go? What will Robbie do? Does the mother seem to feel heartfelt when Robbie leaves the nest? This book does teach some tough lessons about wildlife and letting go.

Book Review: What Bug Am I? by Skye Wade

Book Title:
What Bug am I?
Author: Skye Wade
Publisher: Skye Wade (??)
Publisher Date: October 14, 2020 (48 Pages, Paperback)
Genres: Children, Animals, Nature, Science, Adventure
ISBN: 9798697546697 Paperback | 9781734478617 E-Book
What Bug Am I? A Funny, Educational Story about Backyard Bugs. Bug Book for Kids with Insect Facts.

If your kids are interested in bugs, they’ll definitely buzz with laughs and literacy over this engaging, informative, and science (STEM) book.
This funny bug-story offers interesting and kid-friendly facts about insects’ diverse features and their unique ways of life.

The little spider doesn't initially know who he is. Yet with the ladybug's help, he meets different backyard bugs to understand who he looks like. By merging nonfiction and fiction, the author cleverly soars and scores in this nature book!

DO INSECTS SCARE YOUR CHILDREN?

Fizzle the fear factor associated with bugs with this amazing book. All characters are cute and relatable, without evoking fear or disgust. They’re specifically endowed with human traits and emotions; and at the same time, the structure of their bodies is realistic. The book teaches friendship, benevolence, compassion, empathy, self-care, and cooperation.

It positively shows insects, indicates their role in nature and benefits to humans, and demonstrates how to purge young readers’ fears associated with them.

Besides, each character within the book has its own info-spread with large photos and interesting facts that even adults don't know. At the same time, the book isn’t too scientific and isn’t overloaded with information. Fictional and educational spreads follow each other cohesively and creatively. They’re separated so it's easy to skip educational ones for younger kids.
Discliamer: I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. My opinions and thoughts are my own.

What Bug am I? is a well-written book. It uniquely teaches STEM. It combines nonfiction and fiction. It a cute and funny book. You learn about many different bugs while to find out what this new bug is trying to find out what he is.

You get some real facts about different bugs throughout the book. Those you get a funny story about the bug looking for someone like him. It like he just does not know who he is. Children will learn all about the different bugs. This is a neat idea and a clever way to teach children.

The pictures are well done and enjoyable. I was somewhat creep out about the real pictures of some of the bugs. But not creep out where I closed the book, the look of them had me wanting to turn the page. It is really good for all kinds of children that can learn about bugs and other things. If you are what STEM means well I will put the explanation in for you below.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

Parents will want this for their children if you like bugs or some teachable moment about nature. We get to learn about nature and the different bugs we have in our backyard and house. These kinds of books are enjoyable for young readers and school-age children. I love children's books and sometimes learning about the different bugs or learning something new about bugs I knew about them.

From the mind of Ted Rechlin, author and illustrator of Jurassic and Dinosaurs Live!comes the thrilling new epoch-spanning adventure Sharks, a life-science graphic novel adventure. This is wonderful graphic novel for children. It got a little bit gore in it but it mild. It shows the behavior of sharks. I like the fact that the book teaches about past sharks and present sharks. It also shows how sharks survived over the past 400 million years.

There are facts about sharks throughout the book. We also learn some new names for some sharks. Some are hard to pronounce the name of them. We get to see the adaptations and different kinds and shapes of sharks throughout the years.

He has contributed his work to many museums, zoos, and publishing companies like DC Comics and Dover Publications. Synopsis:
One woman, an impossible dream, and the faith it took to see it through. German immigrant and farm wife Hulda Klager possesses only an eighth-grade education—and a burning desire to create something beautiful. What begins as a hobby to create an easy-peeling apple for her pies becomes Hulda’s driving purpose: a time-consuming interest in plant hybridization that puts her at odds with family and community, as she challenges the early twentieth-century expectations for a simple housewife. Through the years, seasonal floods continually threaten to erase her Woodland, Washington garden and a series of family tragedies cause even Hulda to question her focus. In a time of practicality, can one person’s simple gifts of beauty make a difference? Based on the life of Hulda Klager, Where Lilacs Still Bloom is a story of triumph over an impossible dream and the power of a generous heart. “Beauty matters… it does. God gave us flowers for a reason. Flowers remind us to put away fear, to stop our rushing and running and worrying about this and that, and for a moment, have a piece of paradise right here on earth.”
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book. It about life and it cycle as though Flowers. There are alots of lesson though out the book though followers. It teaches us that we must move on and keep going. Hulda had lost most of her family and she wondered why she did. Her children died before see did. That must be tough to do.

This books teaches you lesson though the way Hulda did it though her garden. It book that really hit home with your emotions. I suggest that you have a few tissues on hand or you may be wipe your eyes while reading. It was heartfelt in some parts in this book. To me it a must read.

Synopsis: From Goodreads
When their mom said she was sending twelve-year-old Percy and Penny and their little brother, Pauly, to stay with an uncle they’d never met, she tried to make it sound better by saying that Uncle Stretch’s farm was a horse camp. Well, the farm animals are actually chickens and pigs, and the only two horses are mean-tempered and not too keen on being ridden by kids. As Penny puts it, “This farm is like the eighteenth century, but way worse! The water has a rusty taste, and all the meat used to be animals on the farm.” If there is one thing the twins can agree on, it’s that between endless chores, no Internet or cell phones, and the prospect that their mom might have to stay in jail (even though some people say she’s a hero), horse camp is a big, fat joke. Will they ever have a real family again? Or is there a family for them right here?

My Thoughts on this book:
This book is read though the eyes of Percy and Penny. The twins take turns tell you about their lives and about their family and trouble though their eyes. They are staying with their Uncle Stretch for the summer, for their mother is sent to jail.

They are trying adjust to all the changes that are happening to their family. Percy and Penny and their little brother Pauly are sent to live with their uncle until their mom and dad try to work things out. Percy and Penny are living with an uncle they do not know.

Penny writes in her diary and to her mom and dad though out the book. She also writing to someone in Africa that she is sponsoring. Percy tell his story though first person and describes it as a book read it. It make sent though this point a view. As for Penny is always writing in diary or writing a letter to family member. You can see the the twins moods and see the changes though the book.

I really can not tell that plot of this story is? All I could get out the story is that the twins were trying to adjust a new life and new family members or people. I only could get is that it was being read though the twins perceptive or though there eyes. You can make your own decision.
