Description: Set in the Bible Belt of Deep East Texas, Visiting the Sins is a darkly funny story about mothers and daughters, naked ambition, elusive redemption, and all the torment it's possible to inflict in the name of family.

Down through the decades, the lofty social aspirations of the feisty but perennially dissatisfied Wheeler women -- Pokey, the love-starved, pistol-packing matriarch; Rebanelle, the frosty former beauty queen turned church organist; and Curtis Jean, the backsliding gospel singer -- are exceeded only by their unfortunate taste in men and a seemingly boundless capacity for holding grudges. A legacy of feuding and scandal lurches from one generation to the next with tragic consequences that threaten to destroy everything the Wheeler women have sacrificed their souls to build.

This book is best on different then any other. Though there seems to be a secret that no one seem to know about Rebanelle and her husband and father to Curtis Jean.

There seems to be a story about mothers and daughters. You see them struggle and what they decide to do what best for their loves ones. It seem to be a story about Curtis Jean mostly.

Curtis Jean does she accept and change the life with her husband and her two daughters. Does she fall backwards? What the legacy of this family and what could destroy everything in it path. There seems to be death around the corner. That it mean to them do they pray to god in one way or not.

I advise that you watch with your children who reads this book. For there is some things that are said that is only meant for adults. I say though of ages of 13 plus would be a good idea to read this book. It seem to be about men and drinking and all that kind of things.

Describe your *Latest/Recent* book in 20 Words or Less?
VOSTOK is a 15 million year old unexplored subglacial lake, located 2.5 miles beneath the Antarctic ice.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story (in this book)?
Lots of research. The more real things are, the scarier the plot.

How important are names to you in your book(s)? Do you choose the names based on liking the way it sounds or the meaning? Do you have any name choosing resources you that you?
Actually, almost all of my characters are real readers who have entered contests to become characters. Contests are announced before each new book in my monthly newsletters; sign-up free at www.SteveAlten.com

Which of your characters (in this book) is your favorite and Why?
I like Angus, Zachary’s Scottish Highlander father. He says whatever’s on his mind and has neither fear nor couth.

Was there a certain scene *in this book* that was harder for you to write than others?
The conversations between the hero and the ET. Every sentence carried weight.

Tons of resources, and two amazing experts. Bill Stone of Stone Aerospace guided me on the technology needed to access Vostok, and Dr. Steven M. Greer, the foremost authority in the world on ET intelligence offered me incredible facts regarding UFOs

If you could cast your characters in the Hollywood adaptation of your book, who would play your characters?
Hard to say, really, though Sean Connery remains my Angus.

What was your favorite part to write and why? (Alternate Q: What is your least favorite part of the publishing / writing process?)
Favorite part is always the action scenes – and the last scene because I’m done. Least favorite part of publishing – feeling helpless at times when I need to generate publicity.

Just as your books inspire authors, what authors have inspired you to write? (Alternate Q: If you didn't like writing books, what would you do for a living?, What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?
Peter Benchley. I loved JAWS and it obviously inspired MEG. Conversely, after reading WHITE SHARK, I was convinced I could do as well if not better. Don’t write what you know, write about what you like to read and do the research.

Do you read your reviews? Do you respond to them, good or bad? Do you have any advice on how to deal with the bad?
I do read the reviews; I try not to respond to the bad ones. Some people get off by being haters; others legitimately don’t get it. Those that do tend to love my work. Thankfully, there are a lot more positive reviews than negative (my last book, Sharkman, averaged 4.7 out of 5 stars from over 100 reviews.)

What are you working on now? What is your next project?
It’s a book I asm co-writin with Dr. Steven Greer called UNACKNOWLEDGED

Bonus Question: Characters often find themselves in situations they aren't sure they can get themselves out of. When was the last time you found yourself in a situation that was hard to get out of and what did you do?
Wow.

On February 17, 2013, after suffering from severe stomach pain for 48 hours, I went to the ER. They did a CT scan and discovered a perforation in my colon. Bodily wastes were leaking into my body. They scheduled emergency surgery. They wheeled me into a prep room. A dozen interns and a few doctors were staring down at me when the surgeon enters. He says, “My name is Dr. Chidumbarem, do you understand what we are going to do?” I said, “I was told you are going to make three small incisions and repair the tear.” He said, “No, Mr. Alten. We are going to cut open your stomach and remove part of your colon. When you wake up you will be wearing a colostomy bag. Hopefully, it will not be permanent, but you will have to wear it for three to six months.”

I was freaking out inside. Totally trapped. I said, “Is there any good news?”

“Yes. We are going to save your life.”

I spent seven rough days in the hospital, 3 months with a colostomy bag, and a year with different challenges from the wound that reversed the bag. As I write this, I had to have a CT scan today because the healed wound may have herniated.

Had I waited another day to get help, you wouldn’t be reading this blog..

Thank you for stopping by Steve Alten. I happy for you have stop by Nighttime Reading Center. Your book a Exciting and enjoyable read. I enjoyed it.

Book Description: East Antarctica: The coldest, most desolate location on Earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a six thousand square mile liquid lake, over a thousand feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life forms long believed extinct – and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

In this sequel to The Loch and prequel to the upcoming MEG 5: Nightstalkers, New York Times best-selling author Steve Alten offers readers a crossover novel that combines characters from two of his most popular series.

There no book like this. I can not even describe what it all about except that it maybe about ET or what we call Energy. Is it possible that we live in a multi universes that can alter our life or are we just atoms that look like a body. We live in a plant that we see that can alter our lives.

The earth have a big bang or did we get seed here from other plant like Mars and now we live on Earth. We could be from the old Mars that is now dead. Our world may be really just be our illusions of what we call home. We may be complete atom that can detain to access 10 dimensions that we see as light. Could we really save our species or are we going to destroy our planet and need to find a new world to survive.

Could our world really be an Illusion of our minds that we see blue skies and green grasses. We may be able to be in our dimensions that we only see what we see. We could be a seed or was it our creator that put us on planet Earth. What do you think about our Earth history? Did we really come from Charon which is Mars now that it a dead planet. Here my favorite of the book, "Life on Earth and Death on Mars". We could have be spawned and planted on Earth or was it the Big Bang. You may want to read the book and decide for yourself what you want to believe. We may be living in world that we now the truth that has to do with our survival.

Description: Grant Bradley was never meant to survive cancer or live happily ever after with his fiancรฉe, Tate. Before he was born, his destiny to become a guardian angel was decided by the life-planning Schedulers.
Despite having what his new peers deem as a great position in the afterlife, living in utopia with a merciless mentor and looking after strangers doesn't change the way Grant feels about losing out on his life with Tate. Refusing to accept his destiny, he finds a way to visit his lost love. However, keeping their connection alive and, most importantly, secret, will end up costing Grant more than he could ever imagine.

What a book this is for readers. You can read this book in several ways. I would let you decide if you want to read it these ways.

  1. Story of Grant
  2. Afterlife kinda story
  3. Story of Friendships
  4. Story of Mystery
You can decide for yourselves. I really enjoyed the book. To me it was a story of Grants life and learning the truth about about his life. He makes some mistakes and he needs to learned. He does not want to remember his life with Tate.

He starts to makes friends. He does not know about his Legacy. He meets her and does not not know that his first assignment has to do with her. He goes about doing it until he makes a big mistake. He does some really strange things. There are surprises along the way. Grant needs to learn a few things. There are different page turners.

The characters are done well. I had a really hard time putting this book down once I started it. It was that good. I really hope to get the next book to read or to review. I was enjoying Grant and Willow and now I also enjoyed Ryder and Troy.  It really strange and we meet Elliott and it a surprised that I do not want to give you an ending of this book away or what Elliott is doing or how he see Grant or know Grant.
